Welcome to the Pentland Firth Yacht Club

The Club was founded on the 9th October 1953, and is now located in the south east corner of Scrabster Harbour. The aim of the Club is to encourage sailing and seamanship, to foster racing and the social sides of sailing. This is achieved by an active racing program, a well attended sail training program and excellent socials. Facilities include dinghy storage compound and access to two slipways adjacent to the club. There is a workshop area for boat repairs, well equipped kitchen area for that lunch time stop over, change rooms and function hall.

The club sails in Thurso Bay located between two headlands, Holburn Head and Dunnet Head. This gives a large deep water sheltered sailing area with few restrictions. Thursday evenings sail training/development aimed at the novices. Sunday afternoons feature club racing with Handicap fleets, with the Slow handicap being dominated by a large Topper Fleet. The fast handicap fleet includes Lasers, Tasars and Fireballs. Play the Flash banner and you will get a feel of the great sailing you can expect up here.

The sailing programme for July is now available. The club will be running varied events in July, including races around an individual Pentland Handicap, relay races and a cruise to Murkle. See the programme for full details.

Congratulations to Geoff and Jonathan on their well deserved win of the midsummer regatta, held over the very windy weekend of 19/20 June. Second and third places were very tight, with Marjory beating Malcolm by virtue of winning a race. Read full report.
